My name is Johnny Heppler, and Washington County is my home.
It’s where I was raised.
It’s where I built my career.
It’s where I’m raising my family.
Everything I do—both professionally and personally—is guided by one goal: keeping our community safe, free, strong, and united for the next generation.
That’s why I’m running for Sheriff.
I am a lifelong Washington County resident, a husband, a father, and a proud public servant.
I grew up here learning the values that still guide me today—faith, family, hard work, personal responsibility, and respect for others.
For more than 22 years, I have served with the St. George Police Department, working in patrol, investigations, and leadership. Today, I serve as a Captain, leading dedicated officers who put service above self every day. Throughout my career, I have managed complex operations, mentored young officers, handled critical incidents, and worked closely with community partners to solve problems before they become crises.
I have also learned that good law enforcement isn’t just about enforcing laws. It’s about building relationships, listening to people, and earning trust.
At the heart of that trust is respect for the United States Constitution.
The Constitution is not just a document—it is a promise. A promise that government will be limited, that individual rights will be protected, and that every person will be treated fairly under the law. As Sheriff, I will always defend the freedoms guaranteed by the First, Second, Fourth, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments, and ensure our deputies are trained to do the same.
Protecting public safety and protecting constitutional rights are not opposites. They work together. When people know their rights are respected, communities grow stronger.
My mission has always been simple: make sure families feel safe in their homes, children feel protected in their schools, and seniors feel secure in their neighborhoods.
I’m running for Sheriff because I love this community.
Washington County gave me the opportunity to grow, to serve, and to raise my family in a place rooted in strong values. I want to protect that way of life for future generations.
As our county grows, so do the challenges we face.
We need leadership that listens.
Leadership that brings people together.
Leadership that puts families first.
I’m ready to provide that leadership.
As your Sheriff, I will always put families first, listen to community concerns,
and lead with integrity.
I promise to:
Protect constitutional rights
Defend individual liberty
Be present in the community
Support our deputies
Lead with compassion and strength
Serve with humility
Never forget who I work for
Together, we can keep Washington County safe, free, strong, and united.
